The DAK Group Announces Sale of Marypaul Laboratories, Inc. to EMSL Analytical, Inc

The DAK Group, the leading investment bank specializing in middle- market mergers and acquisitions worldwide, announces the sale of its client Marypaul Laboratories, Inc. of Sparta, NJ to EMSL Analytical, Inc. with corporate headquarters in Cinnaminson, NJ. The DAK Group served as the exclusive investment banker and financial advisor to Marypaul, initiating the transaction and managing the divestiture process. The transaction capitalizes on Marypaul’s outstanding reputation in the industry as a high-quality service provider, as well as its deep relationships with clients in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, personal care, food ingredients and water industries — some spanning 20-30 years.

The acquisition marks the expansion strategy for EMSL Analytical, Inc., who plan to offer Marypaul’s services to its current customers, served in 40 locations throughout the US and Canada. In addition, Marypaul’s clients will now have access to EMSL’s vast array of services. EMSL will maintain the Marypaul staff and facility in Sparta, NJ and plans on a seamless transition.

“We have built a niche business in microbiology testing focused on providing high-quality service and instilling confidence in our customers who entrust us with their critical products,” said Marypaul President, Dr. Paul La Rocca. “This transaction will provide the capital and resources to offer our customers a full range of comprehensive analytical testing services to augment and compliment the core competency of MPL.”

“We are pleased to have delivered significant value to Marypaul’s ownership using our unique worldwide, proprietary process to identify the right buyer,” said Michael Richmond, the Managing Director who led the DAK transaction team. “This acquisition is a tremendous opportunity for a deeper penetration of Marypaul’s services into the marketplace and the ideal fit to serve as part of EMSL’s growth strategy.”

The successful sale of Marypaul Laboratories, Inc. was a result of a highly competitive process initiated by The DAK Group, who identified the strategic fit between these two companies.
